In 2007, I was stuck. I wanted to launch a campaign, but couldn’t figure out how to build a website. I realized then how critical a skill web design is for activists and how few activists knew how to do it. So I decided to teach myself and now I want to pass that knowledge along.
Charlie is one of the rare people who can move between issues and movements naturally, adding a huge amount to each. I met him in NYC where we worked together on the People’s Climate March, something we’ll discuss at length in this interview.
Building a website is a trial in frustration. It takes ages to get things looking just right. And even when you do, there are always other sites that do things slightly better.
I’ve been trying to launch this damn site for the past 5 years. That’s a long time. Part of the problem? I love to tinker. But I’ve come up with a new plan: drop everything and just start writing.
